The course is topic-based and designed for students whose language proficiency level is on CEFR-A2 or CSEPT 120~149 to extend low intermediate level students’ English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students can understand and use expressions related to topics in their daily life. The topics include people and things in the daily life (e.g. relationships, possessions, exercise, hobbies, work, study, things in common, career choices, etc.), holidays and celebrations, famous scenic spots, etc. Students will learn to practice different types of dialogues, read and discuss texts (1000~1400 headwords) relating to the themes or reading strategies, and compose paragraph writings (around 120 words). The genres include instruction, description, and argumentation.

With respect to the topics, students will be able
1. To comprehend different spoken and written forms of selected text-types
2. To initiate and participate in conversations in pairs
3. To demonstrate comprehension of new texts using the acquired headwords
4. To compose short paragraphs, each with 120 words
5. To demonstrate control of communication using the following grammar points:
a. pronouns and reflexive pronouns
b. possessives and possessive pronouns
c. determiners and indefinite pronouns
d. infinitives and gerunds
e. simple present and present continuous tenses

h. introducing cultures of gift giving and expressing personal preferences and needs
of gift giving and receiving
i. making and responding to invitations
j. describing special holidays and celebrations
k. describing and responding to past events
l. summarizing famous events
m. describing personal shopping habits and needs
n. describing personal ways to spend or save money, giving others advice, or
making responses to others’ advice
o. describing problems in the daily life, giving creative solutions, and making
related questions

3. To converse in simple language with people, asking questions and understanding answers relating to most routine matters
4. To relate events from the events in the past, including weekend activities and interesting stories
5.To describe the past life, giving details about important milestones
6.To discuss vacation plans and describe vacations
7.To talk about the natural world, travels to see animals, and natural areas
