課程概要：
自人類演化至今，氣候一直扮演決定人類發展的重要角色，但對氣候的了解卻很少。從描述地球歷史的地質時代(數千萬年的氣候變化，例如主要影響機制有大陸飄移、山脈形成…等)，到人類演化出的史前時代(數百萬到數十萬年的氣候變化，例如主要影響機制有冰期、間冰期、溫室氣體變化…等)，及後來文字發明的歷史時代(數千到數十年的氣候變化，例如主要影響機制有火山爆發、太陽活動、人為溫室氣體變化…等)，到週期只有2-7年的聖嬰現象，氣候都是改變環境的主因之一，且有著不同的解析度，大氣也不斷在變化改變成份。但自從工業革命後，人類燃燒石化燃料，造成溫室氣體，尤其是二氧化碳的增加，而引起了全球暖化問題。雖然人為影響比例還在爭議，但最近科學家(IPCC)已證明人為因素是造成全球暖化的主因。異常氣候也將成為未來的常態。永續發展及氣候變遷調適，已成為人類延長生存於現階段地球的生活方式。
This course focuses on trends in climate and environmental changes, current situations  the extent of climate change effects in the world, adaptation strategies developed by areas under the impact of climate change, and the creation of a sense of crisis in climate change adaptation.

1.協助學生了解長期與短期控制地球氣候系統因子。
2.知悉各種古氣候研究之代用材料及其運用原理。
3.理解氣候如何影響地球、生物乃至人類歷史。
4.認識人類引起的全球環境問題，尤其是暖化問題。
5.建立永續發展及氣候變遷調適的危機意識。
