The course is topic based and designed to enhance lower-intermediate level students’ English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students will learn to communicate within the context of topics relating to literature, personal stories, nature, environment, technology, biotechnology and food by listening to and practicing a variety of dialogues, reading and discussing texts
With respect to the topics, students will be able to: 	
1.	comprehend a variety of spoken and written forms of selected text-types
2.	initiate and participate in conversations of various settings  
3.	demonstrate comprehension of new texts using the acquired headwords 
本科目旨在增進學生英文聽說讀寫能力；主題涵蓋文學、個人故事、自然、環保、科技、生物科技、飲食文化。課程內容包括不同類型之聽講練習，與主題或閱讀技巧相關之文章或故事的閱讀與討論。
學生將能針對上述主題：
1.理解課內對話與短文
2.進行不同情境之對話
3.運用所習得之字彙理解相關的課外對話與短文
期中考 45% (採統一會考) 40% 課外，60% 課內
期末考 45% (採統一會考) 40% 課外，60% 課內
平時     10% (平時成績以勤缺與平常考試計算。每缺席一節扣平常成績0.5分，缺席達三分之一者，成績不予計算)
