企業的發展大多有特定的成長路徑，如由小企業發展成為大企業，由國籍企業成為跨國企業。台灣的經濟發展與中小企業的成長密不可分。隨著台灣經濟成為全球前20大經濟體，台灣中小企業的規模隨之成長，並向海外投資，成為跨國企業。本課程從企業成長的角度，台商的特質、台商企業在東南亞投資的發展與現況，特別著重於分析影響台商投資決定的因素，瞭解台商如何適應當地環境，包括政治、社會與文化等層面的企業發展策略、適應、成長與挑戰。
The development of enterprise often shows a typical pattern, said from the small-medium enterprise (SME) to large enterprise in terms of scale, or from national/domestic enterprise to multinational one in terms of the productive or managerial activities crossing the national boundary or not. The development of SMEs is closely related to the successful economic growth in Taiwan. As Taiwan became one of the major economies, the scale of Taiwanese SMEs is also getting larger and launch foreign direct investments and become multinational. This course is a seminar on the hte nature and development of Taiwanese company, and their investment in Southeast Asia, with focus on analyzing the factors affecting investment decisions and understanding how Taiwanese companies adapt to the local environment, including political, social and cultural, to develop business strategies.
